GrreatTeacher,
Yes, it is an emotional event, isn't it.

earlier this morning, i posted off to the the institute of engineers an application for membership as an "engineering associate":.
- today being just over 40 years since the congregation's retards elders made me abandon my apprenticeship.. (in this part of the world, the pre-1975 hype was taken to that level.
not being content to prevent young persons attending university, they went one step further and treated with hostility any youngster who would "tie up five years of their lives" by entering into an apprenticeship.

The final piece to this has now been completed.
I have just received my certificate as an Associate Member of the Institute of Engineers:
- some 39 years after it ought to have happened.
(But better late than never!)

i think that it's possible that they're getting ready to issue a new end time date insinuation like they did with 1975. now i know what some of you are probably thinking: why would they be so stupid as to repeat such a mistake, knowing what happened in 1975?
well here're two reasons why i think they could do it:.
first, it's important to remember that they are deluded.
Could "this generation" inspire another a new "1975 debacle"?
For the sake of those who would get hurt as a consequence, I would hope not.
But then again, when it comes to #uc*ing bloody religion, anything is likely!

for any lurkers who don't believe the watchtower taught that the world would end in 1975... rare jehovah's witnesses 1968 interview "armageddon and 1975" london watchtower rep speaks to bbc.

Defender of truth,
Thanks for posting those audio recordings - I managed to (just) keep my breakfast down while listening through these!
With regard to 1975, the WTS did indeed prove itself to be crafty. While they may not have outright in so many words stated that the end was going to happen in 1975, the thought was cleverly left hanging there that it would:
- for example, notice the way in which SinNutCase goes on to emphasise the blood and guts bit (i.e. Armageddon), immediately after he states that it may "possibly" happen in 1975. He manages to do this in such a way as to hardly even appear to draw breath in between statements.
From that, and numerous other similar statements, it is obvious that the Watchtower wanted its readers to conclude that the end was going to happen in that year. (Bearing in mind that effective propaganda depends not just on what is actually said, but also on what is emphasised).
Even the WTS, in their 1992 Kingdom Proclaimers book, admitted that, to quote, "More was said than was wise" about 1975 (when referring to themselves, let it be noted!). Of course, by that time, the damage had long been done.
It is hard to disagree with one of the feedback comments on Franz's speech, where he is described as a "whiney voiced little dweeb". I do believe that that commentator was almost actually praising old Crazy Fred!

Such verbal remarks as these were very common place during those years 1966-1975:
- so much so that, very quickly, a person hardly gave the 1975 thing a second thought.
Immediately afterwards, though, it seemed like everybody had a collective case of amnesia!

around the 39:00 minute mark the focus shifts to a single sister who cannot find a mate.
at the 42:30 minute mark she states "i cannot believe it crossed my mind...to look on jw dating sites".
guess a new unwritten rule is added to the many oral traditions of these pharisees.
As my late mother would have described it, "they have broken out in a fresh place."

i just learned that sometimes people give "green handshakes".
is this the same as bribing your way up?.
thanks for any posts..
Never heard of a greenhandshak letting someone get baptized.
Without giving too much away, there was one who was a prominent businessman in the city, and who fell for what is arguable the oldest one in the book - i.e. his secretary.
Furthermore, this same person insisted that he was not going to get baptised unless he could firstly discard his wife, and instead marry this secretary. Amazingly, he was permitted to do so. Even more amazingly, he then went on to rapidly rise up through the ranks of the JW organisation - in an unbelievably short time.
Upon reflection, though, maybe not so amazingly:
- to use the vernacular of the time and location, this guy had "More money than the Bull could $h#t", and he sure waved plenty of it around (but only in front of those who mattered, of course!).

I , too, never learned about this practice until I came to this site.
The "green handshake, though, would certainly explain a few things:
- not only how certain individuals rose rapidly "through the ranks": but also, how they were even ever permitted to get baptised in the first place.

anyone in the usa following this morning's shooting "on-air" live tv will know what i'm talking about.
bryce williams (not real name, but on-air name) shot and killed 2 people on live television this morning in roanoke, va. he was wearing a go-pro camera, and uploaded his first-person video onto his social media accounts.
i've seen his twitter feed (before it was taken down), and not very far down he mentions being raised a jw.

While by no means a fan of Schnell's 30 Years a Watchtower Slave, he was probably right about one thing - namely, that the Watchtower Society capitalised on the tremendous upheaval that occurred across Europe in the wake of the First World War. This is what lead to their mantra about "everything is continuing to get worse and worse" - a mantra continued to this day, despite all the evidence to the contrary.
